Hello nuts...I have a question for Bobby and any other twitter users.
Why do you use twitter and not facebook or any other networking sites? What are the advantages of twitter?
Sorry if this is weird, but I am contemplating making a twitter account in attempt to network with other writers in the world (because there aren't any in Gurdon!) and I need to figure out if there are actually any benefits that it has that aren't available through facebook.
Anyway, let me know your thoughts, please!

I use my Twitter account as a news stream of personalized content... similar to customizing a Yahoo home screen or Google News. I follow several of the official Razorbacks tweets, the local weather guy, the Big 4 music publishers, Billboard, etc. I don't really "talk" to people on there, except a few people from work. I've connected with a few sound designers via twitter that turned into offline relationships, but I don't think it's the best tool for that.
ReplyDeleteIf you're looking for fast industry news or information, then I can recommend it. But if you're only looking to network with other people that do what you do, I think you'd be better off with Facebook, LinkedIn, etc.
Hope this helps! I can definitely show you the ropes if you want to set one up!
very helpful...thank you. I don't think I will do it...doesn't seem that useful to me, and for some reason, Twitter scares me..
ReplyDeleteIn other twitter stories: the other day my dad casually mentioned that "Tiger Woods tweetered about his affairs"....or something like that. I promptly told him that tweeter wasn't a verb. Ah, the joys of living in an ever changing techno-culture...haha.
